A friendly acquaintance of his some 20 years younger said they just missed being a boomer. He was shocked. He looked it up. It was arbitrary, of course, but, supposedly, Baby Boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. The problem, he thought, is that the mid-60s shut-off point is just too late. It should be 1960. If you were born in the 60s, you can share the 70s, but the 80s was your decade. Late boomers are fake boomers. Clear off to Gen X, where you belong, he thought. You get the 80s and the 90s. We’ll always have the 70s.
